MARCHING BAND KICKOFF CELEBRATION & PERFORMANCE, THURSDAY, AUGUST 15th at 6:00PM
Join us at the Northwood High Main Field for the Northwood Marching Band & Color Guard Kickoff Performance! Invite family, friends, NHS & TIMB alumni; everyone is welcome! Parents and friends, bring your chairs, arrive early to stake your spot and enjoy some shaved ice from Kona Ice, who will have refreshments available for purchase starting at 5:00pm. And be sure stop by the TIMB Welcome Table for band information, spiritwear, ice cold water and more!
Thursday’s Schedule:
9:00am-4:00pm: Last Day of Marching Band Camp
4:30pm: Dinner provided for Marching Band
5:00pm: Call time for students (STUDENTS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LEAVE BETWEEN CAMP AND THE PERFORMANCE)
5:00pm: Kona Ice available for purchase for family & friends
          6:00pm: Kickoff Performance on the NHS Main Field

7/27/24 – Welcome to Band Camp

WELCOME TO THE 2024 SEASON OF NHS MARCHING BAND & COLOR GUARD!

We are excited to kick off the school year with the 2024 Marching Band & Color Guard show, “The Music of Disney”. With over 250 members, the Timberwolf Marching Band will be one of the largest student groups on campus. This email contains all of the important information for Marching Band & Color Guard Camp and for the 2024 Season.

Important details to prepare for camp:

  • ALL NEW MEMBERS and parents, attend the MANDATORY Pre-Camp Meeting Wednesday, August 7th at 6:00pm in the NHS Theater. Please join us for a Dessert Social following the meeting.

Sample Camp Contract – This is just a sample. Your contract will be mailed to your home address for the parent and student to sign and submit at your uniform fitting appointment.

5/17/24 – Concert Time!

JAZZ AT THE OAK – TONIGHT!
Please join us for this free community event which will take place TONIGHT, Friday, May 17th, at 5:30pm around the NHS Oak Tree. Bring your lawn chair, grab a bite from Tacos & Co. and enjoy performances by the amazing jazz musicians from NHS and Sierra Vista Middle School!

POPS CONCERTS – NEXT WEEK!
Join us for the final concerts of the school year! All concerts begin at 7:00pm in the NHS Theater:

  • Tuesday, 5/21 – Guitar, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Orchestra
  • Wednesday, 5/22 – String Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble
  • Thursday, 5/23 (Gala) – Jazz Ensemble I, Wind Symphony, Philharmonic, Vocal Music

Ticket & Voucher Information:

  • Tues, 5/21 and Wed, 5/22 Concert prices are:  $10 adults, $5 students and seniors
  • Thur, 5/23 Gala prices are:  $15 adults, $10 students and seniors
  • You can exchange your KMA (Keep Music Alive donation) vouchers for tickets for the Tues, 5/21 and Wed, 5/22 concerts. You can use ONE ticket to attend both concerts.
  • KMA vouchers will not be accepted at the Thur, 5/23 Gala. You must buy a separate ticket for this performance.
  • No presales; all tickets and voucher exchanges will be at the concert.
  • CHARTER OAK DONORS: You will be seated starting at 6:45pm for the Tues, 5/21 and Wed, 5/22 concerts. Please arrive early! No early seating for the Thur, 5/23 Gala.

Join us for our Instrumental Music End of Year Banquet & BBQ this Saturday, May 11th at 3:30pm. Banquet is not required, but highly recommended. Come with your family and celebrate our successful year! Join us in the theater to see the seniors take their “final”, find out next year’s marching band theme, then head over to the Oak for some delicious BBQ! 4/11/24 – Senior Portraits

ALL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SENIORS: SENIOR PORTRAITS NEXT WEEKEND!
One of the traditions in Instrumental Music is taking senior portraits in formal concert attire. The Instrumental Music Senior Photo Shoot will be taking place next weekend, 4/20-4/21, from 3:00-6:00pm each day. THESE PHOTOS ARE FREE AND A GREAT WAY TO CELEBRATE OUR SENIORS!  They will be included in our end-of-the-year slideshow, and we hope to give each senior family a copy as a “thank you” gift.

Students will need to wear their formal concert attire and bring their instruments with them as 501 will be locked. Parents/sibling/buddy photos will be allowed, time permitting. Please signup for your free photo session HERE.

  • WEAR your formal concert attire
  • BRING your instrument. Bring your instrument home on FRIDAY, as Room 501 will be locked during the photo shoot
  • MEET in front of the NHS Theater
  • PARENTS/SIBLINGS/BUDDIES may also be included in the photo shoot, time permitting

Join us for our end of the year Instrumental Music Awards & BBQ on Saturday, May 11th at 3:30pm. During this event, we will some delicious BBQ provided by TIMB, then head into the NHS Theater for the awards portion of the evening, which will include the popular senior “final”, a year-end slideshow, and next year’s marching band theme reveal!

The preparations are under way for the annual NHS Jazz at the Oak Concert. Please join us for this free community event which will take place on Friday, May 17th at 5:30pm around the NHS Oak Tree. Bring your lawn chair, grab a bite from our food vendors, enter to win fabulous raffle prizes and enjoy performances by the amazing jazz musicians from NHS and Sierra Vista Middle School.

Once again, we are inviting all NHS music families to contribute a raffle prize. This could be a product or service from your business, a basket you put together, sports tickets or gift cards you are not using. 3/5/24 – Spring Festival Concerts

FREE SPRING FESTIVAL CONCERTS, WEDNESDAY, 3/6 & THURSDAY, 3/7
Spring is coming a little early to Northwood this week! Join us this Wednesday, 3/6 and Thursday, 3/7 for two evenings of live music, presented by our bands and orchestras. All concerts are FREE and will be held in the Northwood High School Theater.

  • All Bands: Wednesday, March 6th at 7:00pm
  • All Orchestras:  Thursday, March 7th at 7:00pm
  • If you are a Charter Oak level KMA donor, please check-in by 6:45pm for early seating

We need a few volunteers to hand out programs and direct people to their seats at both concerts. Please sign up here if you are able to help. You will be a ble to reserve your seats early. Thank you for our support!

SPRING CHORAL CONCERT, WEDNESDAY, 3/13
The NHS Choral Department is excited to invite you to their Spring Choral Concert on Wednesday, March 13th at 7pm. The concert will take place in NHS’ Performing Arts Theater. Tickets are $15 for parents and $10 for students. The talented choral students have been working hard to prepare a wonderful program of songs from various genres and cultures.They hope that you will be able to join them!

MARCHING  BAND UNIFORM CLEANING PREP, SATURDAY, 3/9
We are looking for volunteers to help us prepare our 200+ marching band uniforms for cleaning. Please sign up here to help out on Saturday, March 9th from 9:00am-noon. Krispy Kreme donuts will be provided! This a great way to meet other music parents and the more help we have, the more quickly we will finish! Hope to see you there!

IRVINE JAZZ FESTIVAL, SATURDAY, 3/16
Here is the schedule for EVERYONE for Saturday, March 16th. Please get there early, and carpool since parking is still an issue at IRVINE HIGH SCHOOL. Remember to bring your instrument/music/pencil. 501 will NOT be open this morning. You need to bring everything home with you Friday.

  • Jazz 4 – 9:15 warm-up / 9:45 performance & clinic in Student Center 
  • Combo 1 – 10:25 warm-up / 11:00 performance & clinic in HLG
  • Jazz 3 – 11:00 warm-up / 11:30 performance & clinic in GYM
  • CSULB JAZZ ORCHESTRA/AWARDS – GYM @ 12:00pm. 
  • Jazz 2 – 1:00 warm-up / 1:30 performance & clinic in GYM 
  • Combo 2 – 2:00 warm-up / 2:30 performance & clinic in SLG
  • Jazz 1 – 3:00 warm-up / 3:30 performance in THEATER / 4:00 clinic

EVERYONE ELSE – CALL TIME IS 9:30am
Meet in the outdoor amphitheater outside the practice gym/theater area. All students are required to be at each NHS performance. Irvine High School Vaquero Instrumental Music Boosters will have a snack shack with lunch items available for purchase, or you can bring your own lunch. YOU MAY NOT LEAVE CAMPUS. It is recommended to bring a refillable water bottle and some healthy snacks. Students will be released after our last band/clinic, around 4:30pm, per Director discretion.
Please label all instruments with your name and ontact information and keep your things with you at all items. Lost or stolen school instruments will be your financial responsbility. Please contact your director with any questions.

RENO JAZZ FESTIVAL, THURSDAY, 4/25 through SUNDAY, 4/28
Hey jazzers! Thank you for submitting your first payments for the Reno Jazz Festival. So far we have over 90 students attending this trip! Final payments are due Wednesday, 3/13. Payments (cash or check made out to “TIMB”) should be turned into the black mailbox in Room 501. 2/21/24 – Freaky Friday

NHS ARTS PRESENTS “FREAKY FRIDAY”, 2/22-2/24
Come on out this week to see Northwood High School’s presentation of Freaky Friday, featuring a live pit orchestra! Showings are this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights at 7pm, with a sensory friendly matinee showing at 2pm on Saturday. Click here to purchase tickets. Hope to see you there!

CSUF WINDS FESTIVAL, 3/2
Our Wind Ensemble and Wind Symphony bands will be joining high schools from across southern CA and performing at the CSUF Winds Festival on Saturday, 3/2. Friends and family are welcome and encouraged to come watch us perform at 4:30pm in Meng Hall. The concert is free!

FREE SPRING FESTIVAL CONCERTS, 3/6 & 3/7
Spring is coming a little early to Northwood! Join us on Wednesday, 3/6 and Thursday, 3/7 for two evenings of live music, presented by our bands and orchestras. All concerts are FREE and will be held in the Northwood High School Theater.

  • All Bands: Wednesday, March 6th at 7:00pm
  • All Orchestras:  Thursday, March 7th at 7:00pm
  • If you are a Charter Oak level KMA donor, please check-in by 6:45pm for early seating

We need a few volunteers to hand out programs and direct people to their seats at both concerts. Please sign up here if you are able to help. You will be a ble to reserve your seats early. Thank you for our support!

1/10/24 – Concerts

NORTHWOOD AREA CONCERT, THURSDAY, JANUARY 11TH, 7PM
On Thursday 1/11 at 7pm, our Wind Symphony will be performing in our annual Northwood Area Concert, bringing together students from Sierra Vista Middle School, Brywood and Canyon View Elementary Schools, as well as our Northwood Timberwolves! The groups will perform for each other and then share the stage in a heartwarming finale. It is such a special moment for our kids to reflect upon their musical journeys as they play side-by-side with middle school and elementary kiddos, and it gives all of those younger kids the chance to see what lies in store for their own musical future!  This is a free concert.

In order to minimize disruptions, please plan to arrive by 7:00pm and stay for the duration of the concert. Thank you!

SYMPHONY IRVINE COLLABORATION CONCERT, FRIDAY, JANUARY 12TH, 7PM
On Friday 1/12 at 7pm, our Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing in a very special collaboration with a professional orchestra – Symphony Irvine! Both our Philharmonic and the professionals will be giving their own performances – including the encore performance of an incredible composition by one of our NHS students, Ellie Hsueh! Then, much like how the middle and elementary school band students will be sharing the stage with our high school band the night before, our Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing side-by-side with the professionals on an incredible finale of Mussorgsky’s “Great Gate of Kiev” from Pictures at an Exhibition.  KMA vouchers are not applicable for this exclusive performance. Tickets are $10 for general admission, $5 for students and senior citizens, and IUSD employees are free with ID.

12/12/23 – Winter Gala

THE WINTER GALA IS TAKING PLACE THIS WEEK!
The Winter Gala will be taking place this Friday, December 15th. You won’t want to miss this special event, starting at 7:00pm in the NHS Theater. Winter Gala tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Concert/KMA vouchers may not be used for this performance.

FINTER CONCERTS ARE THIS WEEK!

Get ready for Northwood Instrumental’s Finter (Fall/Winter) Concerts! You won’t want to miss this two night event, starting at 7:00pm on both nights in the NHS Theater. Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and children. Concert/KMA vouchers may be used for this performance.

This Giving Tuesday, your generous gift helps to Keep Music Alive at NHS! Your donation helps to sustain our instrumental music program at its current level by providing critical funding in areas such as clinics and instruction, instrument repair and purchase, sheet music and more. And it’s not too late to receive vouchers for this week’s concerts! We offer “Thank You” incentives for various levels of giving. TIMB vouchers are complimentary concert tickets which have a box office value of $10 each. These vouchers can be used for any of the paid-admission instrumental concerts, excluding galas.
