8/20/26 – First Football Game Tomorrow

TOMORROW: First Home Game Details!

Just a friendly reminder this Friday is our first home football game at Portola!
We will be performing at halftime, so it’s going to be an exciting night.

To help everyone stay organized, here’s a quick recap of the details shared by the Directors:

⏰ Schedule & Location

  • 5:30 PM – Call Time: Meet on the basketball courts behind the pool/gym at Portola High School.

  • 6:30 PM: Pre-game performance.

  • 7:00 PM: Kickoff!

  • 9:30 PM – 10:00 PM (Approx.): Game concludes and clean-up is done. Please plan rides accordingly—the director-approved pick-up location is the front parking lot off Merit.

🎒 What to Wear & Bring

  • Wear: Band shirt, any color bottoms, and athletic shoes. (Note: No uniforms or shakos for this game!)

  • Bring: Instrument, water, and all music in their flip folder.

  • Important Rules: No phones in the stands (let the directors know if your student needs one for a specific reason), and do not bring backpacks, purses, or personal belongings of any kind.

  • Safety: Reminder for the kids to stick to NHS core values and stay with a buddy at all times.

🚚 Truck Loading & Unloading

  • Loading: If your student has an open 8th period, Band Staff, Pit, Leadership, Drumline, Tubas, and Color Guard will be loading the trucks at that time.

  • Unloading: All students in Band Staff, Leadership, Pit, Drumline, Tubas, and Color Guard are required to stay and help unload (along with anyone needing to make up tardies). Students need to go BACK to NHS for this and need to be quickly picked up, which should only take about 10-15 minutes once the trucks arrive.

🍕 Food

  • Good news—the kids will be fed Chicken Bake and Del Taco (vegetarian option) at the game!

Let’s get ready to cheer on our kids and the team! Reach out if you have any questions. 📣✨

4/26/26 – Update from Directors

Unfortunately, we are writing to let you know that due to circumstances far beyond our control, Mr. Quizon will not be returning to teach at Northwood next year.  He has been an integral and valued part of our program for the past three years, and this is certainly heavy news.  We appreciate everything that he has brought to our program, its students, and families, and we absolutely wish him all of the best in all he does!...
