10/5/23 – Pink Out Game

FRIDAY 10/6 – “PINK OUT” GAME AT IRVINE HIGH SCHOOL
Tomorrow the Timberwolves will go up against the University HS Trojans at a home game being held at Irvine High School. In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the theme of this game will be “Pink Out”, so please wear PINK! The band will perform at the pre-game show, during the game, and at halftime. Invite family, friends, NHS & TIMB alumni; everyone is welcome!

5:30pm: Student call time, meet at the IHS outdoor basketball courts by the practice gym (drop off at parking lot off Escolar)
6:40pm: Pre-game show, National Anthem
7:00pm: Kickoff

STUDENTS:

  • Wear your Earth, Wind & Fire marching band t-shirt, athletic shorts, black socks above the ankle and your Dinkles.
  • Bring: refillable water bottle, instrument, lyre and all music.
  • Phones are not allowed in stands.
  • Stay with a buddy at all times.
  • Band Staff/Leadership/Uniform Staff/Drumline/Pit/Tubas are all expected to UNLOAD the trucks back at NHS after the game.

PARENTS:

  • Please pick up your student around 9:30pm, in front of the school, by the swim center.
  • This is the only supervised pickup location.

REMEMBER TO WEAR YOUR FANWEAR

9/27/23 – KMA, Away Game this Friday

THANK YOU FOR HELPING TO “KEEP MUSIC ALIVE” AT NHS!
A sincere thank you to all of those who have made a tax-deductible donation to our music program! These donations are the only way we can continue to provide the high level of experiences for all of our nearly-500 students, and they cover everything from the coaches that come in for each section, instrument purchase and repair, accessories such as strings, rosin, drum sticks and mallets, mouthpieces and reeds, to purchasing the very music we perform. At this time, roughly 30% of our families have made a donation to our program – thank you so much for your support! HAVE YOU SIGNED AND RETURNED YOUR INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC AGREEMENT (IMA)?

All music students should have received a paper class syllabus and “Keep Music Alive (KMA)” information. Student AND Parent are REQUIRED to go online and sign the Instrumental Music Agreement, verifying you have read the class syllabus.

FRIDAY 9/29 – AWAY GAME AT IRVINE HIGH SCHOOL
This Friday the Northwood Timberwolves will go up against the Irvine Vaqueros at an away game being held at Irvine High School. The NHS marching band will sit on the AWAY stand side. Students will NOT wear their marching band uniforms; see dress code below. We WILL be feeding students at this event.

5:30pm: Student call time, meet at the IHS outdoor basketball courts by the practice gym (drop off at parking lot off Escolar)
7:00pm: Kickoff

STUDENTS:

  • Wear your marching band t-shirt, jeans and athletic shoes
  • Bring: refillable water bottle, instrument, lyre and all music.
  • Phones are not allowed in stands.
  • Stay with a buddy at all times.
  • Band Staff/Leadership/Uniform Staff/Drumline/Pit/Tubas are all expected to UNLOAD the trucks back at NHS after the game.

PARENTS:

  • Please pick up your student around 9:30pm, in front of the school, by the swim center.

MARCHING BAND KICKOFF CELEBRATION, FRIDAY, AUG 18th at 6:00PM
Join us at the Northwood High Main Field for the Northwood Marching Band & Color Guard Kickoff Performance! See flyer here. Invite family, friends, NHS & TIMB alumni; everyone is welcome! 8/1/23 – Welcome to NHS Marching Band & Color Guard!

WELCOME TO THE 2023 SEASON OF NHS MARCHING BAND AND COLOR GUARD!

We are excited to kick off the school year with the 2023 Marching Band & Color Guard show, “The Music of Earth, Wind & Fire”.  With nearly 250 members, the Timberwolf Marching Band will be one of the largest student groups on campus. This email contains all of the important information for Marching Band & Color Guard Camp and for the 2023 Season.

Important details to prepare for camp:

  • Parents and students, attend the MANDATORY Pre-Camp Meeting Wednesday, August 9th at 7:00pm in the NHS Theater
  • Read through all 9 documents HERE, or click individual links below:
  1. Welcome Letterand Summer Band Camp Details
  2. Sample Camp Contract – This is just a sample. Your contract will be mailed to your home address for
    the parent and student to sign and submit at your uniform fitting appointment.
  3. Marching Band Uniform Information– including how to sign up online for your uniform fitting,

     IMPORTANT: Your signed contract is required in order for you to participate in your uniform
fitting

7/3/23 – All State Honor Ensemble Audition Information

Hi all,

First of all, CONGRATS C/O 2023!  :)

For those that are returning and want to get a head start on the All State Honor Ensemble excerpts over the summer when you have a little spare time, THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS FOR YOU!!!  Please note that there is a NEW audition deadline of NOVEMBER 1ST for All State Submissions (currently, there is not anything listed for SCSBOA All Southern Honor Ensembles, but check www.scsboa.org for more details).

MARCHING BAND PERCUSSION

Drumline auditions are August 9, 10 & 11.  Students must be there all three days prior to Band Camp.

MARCHING BAND NEEDS TRUCK DRIVERS!!
Would you like to help out the marching band this coming year? We are in need of truck drivers to help transport band equipment, uniforms and supplies to each performance. With a 200+ person band, this requires three 26′ trucks per performance. Please reach out to us at TIMB.ExecVP@gmail.com if you would be interested in helping out. Thank you!

5/16/23 – Pops Concerts this Week!

POPS CONCERTS ARE TAKING PLACE THIS WEEK!
Join us for the final concerts of the school year! All concerts begin at 7:00pm in the NHS Theater:

  • Wednesday, 5/17 – Jazz Combo II, String Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble (see the concert program HERE)
  • Thursday, 5/18 – Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Orchestra, Wind Symphony (see the concert program HERE)
  • Friday, 5/19 – Jazz Combo I, Jazz Ensemble I, Philharmonic Orchestra, Vocal Music

Ticket & Voucher Information:

  • Wed, 5/17 and Thur, 5/18 Concert prices are:  $10 adults, $5 students and seniors
  • Fri, 5/19 Gala prices are:  $15 adults, $10 students and seniors
  • You can exchange your KMA (Keep Music Alive donation) vouchers for tickets for the Wed, 5/17 and Thur, 5/18 concerts. You can use ONE ticket to attend both concerts.
  • KMA vouchers will not be accepted at the Fri, 5/19 Gala. You must buy a separate ticket for this performance.
  • No presales; all tickets and voucher exchanges will be at the concert.
  • CHARTER OAK DONORS: You will be seated starting at 6:45pm for the Wed, 5/17 and Thur, 5/18 concerts. Please arrive early! No early seating for the Fri, 5/19 Gala.

We need Pops Concert VOLUNTEERS for each night, please sign up! Students may sign up for service hours.

MARCHING BAND PERCUSSION — IMPORTANT UPDATE
All students interested in Marching Band PERCUSSION (PIT & DRUMLINE) we have a workshop on Wednesday, May 24th from 4:15-6:30 in Room 501.  This is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.  You will be receiving the Drumline audition music/requirements, and talking through parts for PIT.  You don’t want to miss this if you’re hoping to play a specific instrument! Drumline auditions are August 9, 10 & 11.  Students must be there all three days prior to Band Camp.

JAZZ AT THE OAK AND END OF THE YEAR CELEBRATION
Don’t miss this year’s Jazz at the Oak Concert and End of the Year Celebration — combined together for the first time! Arrive a bit early to stake out your spot, get those raffle tickets in, and grab a bite from Tacos & Co who will be serving food starting at 5:00pm. See the menu HERE.

This year we are inviting you to contribute raffle prize. This could be a product or service from your business, a basket you put together, sports tickets or gift cards you are not using. All donors will be acknowledged and publicized and you are welcome to include business cards or contact information. For more information, please contact TIMB.ExecVP@gmail.com. All funds raised support the entire instrumental program. We appreciate your support!

Recognize a special senior in the upcoming Pops Concert program, taking place May 17th-19th. Here’s what you do:
1. Create your dedication artwork proportionate to the space you are purchasing. The art work must be appropriate and suitable for printing.

  • Quarter Page (2.5 x 3.75 inches) for $12
  • Half Page (5 x 3.75 inches) for $24
  • Full Page (5 x 8 inches) for $48
  1. Save your final artwork as JPG, JPEG or PNG.
    3. Complete this formby May 12thand attach the artwork (see form for samples).
    4. Pay online.SENIORS AND SENIOR PARENTS, SLIDESHOW PHOTOS DUE THIS FRIDAY!

Seniors and senior parents, please submit a baby photo HERE by Fri, May 5th to be included in the  senior slideshow. Also, if you did NOT take a senior photo during the marching band and/or instrumental music photo shoots, please also include a senior portrait or current photo.

4/26/23 – Calling All Seniors!

ALL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SENIORS: SENIOR PORTRAITS THIS WEEKEND!

One of the traditions in Instrumental Music is taking senior portraits in formal concert attire. The Instrumental Music Senior Photo Shoot will be taking place this weekend, 4/29-4/30, from 3:00-6:00pm each day. THESE PHOTOS ARE FREE AND A GREAT WAY TO CELEBRATE OUR SENIORS!  They will be included in our end-of-the-year slideshow, and we hope to give each senior family a copy as a “thank you” gift.

Students will need to wear their formal concert attire and bring their instruments with them as will be 501 will be locked. Parents/sibling/buddy photos will be allowed, time permitting. Please signup for your free photo session HERE.

  • WEAR your formal concert attire
  • BRING your instrument. Bring your instrument home on FRIDAY, as Room 501 will be locked during the photo shoot.
  • PARENTS/SIBLINGS/BUDDIES may also be included in the photo shoot, time permitting

    The preparations are under way for the annual NHS Jazz at the Oak Concert and Instrumental Music Awards — combined together this year for the first time! Please join us for this free community event which will take place on Friday, May 12th at 5:30pm around the NHS Oak Tree. Bring your lawn chair, grab a bite from Tacos & Co, enter to win fabulous raffle prizes (including Disneyland tickets!), enjoy performances by the amazing jazz musicians from NHS and Sierra Vista Middle School, watch our end-of-the-year slideshow and find out next year’s marching band theme — all in one fun and memorable night!
