WELCOME TO THE 2025 SEASON OF NHS MARCHING BAND & COLOR GUARD!

We are excited to kick off the school year with the 2025 Marching Band & Color Guard show, “The Music of Star Wars”. With over 215 members, the Timberwolf Marching Band will be one of the largest student groups on campus. This email contains all of the important information for Marching Band & Color Guard Camp and for the 2025 Season.

There is a pre-camp MANDATORY Information Meeting for parents and students in the NHS Theater – August 6th @ 6pm

Important Information to prepare for camp.

Sample Camp Contract  (https://bit.ly/2025CampContractSAMPLE) This is just a sample. Your contract will be mailed to your home address for the parent and student to sign and submit at your uniform fitting appointment.  The contracts will be mailed to the address provided in in the registration.  The letter will be from TIMB in a white envelope and the contract will be printed on blue paper.  The letter should arrive at your house by Monday, July 28th.  If you don’t receive your contract by July 28th, please email TIMB.president@gmail.com

Marching Band Kick Off Performance – August 14th 6:00 pm.  Dinner will be provided to the students between marching band camp and the kick off performance.  Students will remain at school until after the performance.  Family and Friends are invited to watch the performance on the NHS football field starting at 6:00 pm.

TIMB Meeting

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC AWARDS AND RECEPTION THIS SATURDAY, MAY 10th, 4:00pm
Join us for our Instrumental Music Awards and Reception this Saturday, May 10th at 4:00pm. We will meet in front of the theater for a taco bar and other tasty treats, then head into the theater for the awards where the seniors take will their “final” and we’ll find out next year’s marching band theme!

SENIOR DEDICATION: POPS CONCERT PROGRAM
Recognize a special senior in the upcoming Pops Concert program, taking place May 21st-23rd. Here’s what you do:
1. Create your dedication artwork proportionate to the space you are purchasing. The art work must be appropriate and suitable for printing.

• Quarter Page (2.5 x 3.75 inches) for $12

DOROTHY VAN PATTEN-WELLS MEMORIAL FUND
Dorothy Van Patten-Wells was an ardent advocate, supporter, and patron of the arts. Her dedication was particularly evident in her unwavering support of various high school music programs, particularly the Northwood High School Instrumental Music Program, which her son, Brad, co-founded.

Even after Brad assumed a district-level position, Dorothy continued to attend Northwood concerts, musicals, and celebrated the profound impact these experiences had on the lives of young individuals. To honor her legacy and perpetuate her commitment, the Van Patten Family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Northwood High School Instrumental Music Program. These donations will assist the students in continuing to benefit from the opportunities that Dorothy held so dear. To donate, please click HERE.

FRIENDS OF JAZZ PERFORMANCE THIS SATURDAY!
Our amazing Jazz 1 and Jazz 2 Bands will be performing this Saturday at the Lone Wolf Brewing Co. in Yorba Linda. Don’t miss this chance to come on out and support them while enjoying their incredible jazz and some great food with family and friends. We need to bring our own audience, so hope to see you there!  Reservations are not necessary, but can be made at lonewolfbrewingco.com.

11:15am – call time at NHS (Load truck! We need to bring EVERYTHING except chairs! Music stands, drum set, amps, power, instruments, etc)

12:15pm – Arrive at Lone Wolf Brewing Co [18210 Yorba Linda Blvd. #404, Yorba Linda, CA] 12:15-1:00- Load in/set up/warm up
1:00-1:30pm: JAZZ 2 PERFORMS
1:45-2:30pm: JAZZ 1 PERFORMS
2:30-3:00pm: Clean up/load truck/pack up
3:00pm: Bus rolling back to NHS
3:30pm: Approx arrival back to NHS/unload truck
3:45pm: Approx release time for students  (depending on how quickly we unload the truck)

Please either eat lunch prior to arriving, or bring money to eat at the restaurant! The food is great!

ALL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC SENIORS: LAST WEEKEND FOR SENIOR PORTRAITS!
One of the traditions in Instrumental Music is taking senior portraits in formal concert attire. The final Instrumental Music Senior Photo Shoot will be taking place THIS SUNDAY, 4/13 from 3:00-6:00pm. These professional photos are free and a great way to celebrate our seniors! They will be included in our end-of-the-year slideshow, and each senior family will receive one of their photos as a gift. In addition, all photos will be available for complimentary download on our Flickr site. Don’t miss out on this amazing opportunity, reserve your spot today!

Students will need to wear their formal concert attire and bring their instruments with them as 501 will be locked. Parents/sibling/buddy photos will be allowed, time permitting. Please signup for your free photo session HERE.

NORTHWOOD VS. FOUNTAIN VALLEY, “SENIOR RECOGNITION” & “PINK OUT” GAME, FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25th, IRVINE HIGH SCHOOL STADIUM

Join us for this Friday.10/25, at Irvine High School as the Timberwolves take on the Fountain Valley HS Barons This game’s theme is SENIOR RECOGNITION and PINK OUT. All seniors will be recognized at this game. The band will perform at the pre-game show, during the game, and at halftime. Invite family, friends, NHS & TIMB alumni; everyone is welcome and encouraged to wear PINK to support breast cancer awareness month.
Marching band and color guard families of seniors, come to the game early to get photos taken with your senior! All senior families are welcome. Don’t miss this opportunity to have your photo taken with your marching band or color guard senior!

SENIORS: 

4:45pm: Senior call time, meet at the Irvine High School basketball courts.  ALL SENIORS HELP UNLOAD TRUCKS, GET INTO UNIFORM ASAP. 
5:15pm: Seniors and senior families meet at the football stadium/track for photos.
5:15-6:15pm: Senior photos inside the football stadium

EVERYONE ELSE:
5:30pm – Call time at Irvine High School
WEAR – Band shirt, athletic shorts, black crew socks & Dinkles
BRING – Instrument, Water, ALL MUSIC
DO NOT BRING – Backpacks, purses, personal belongings of any kind.
MEET – On the basketball courts behind the pool/gym.
NHS CORE VALUES ALWAYS, AND STAY WITH A BUDDY AT ALL TIMES
6:40pm: Pre-game show, National Anthem
7:00pm: Kickoff
9:30pm: Game should be over. Please plan your ride accordingly. Director approved pick-up location is the parking lot off Walnut, near the swim building.

TRUCK LOADING: If you have an open 8th period, we will be loading the trucks at that time.  All Band Staff, PIT, Leadership, Uniform Staff, Drumline, Tubas & CG should attend.

TRUCK UNLOADING: All Band Staff, PIT, Leadership, Uniform Staff, Drumline, Tubas & CG are required to attend.  Anyone who needs to make up for tardies should also attend.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR THIS WEEK’S SENIOR RECOGNITION GAME
We could use a few more volunteers for this week’s game, specifically to help the seniors with their sashes and boutonnieres prior to having their photos taken. FALL CONCERTS ARE THIS WEEK!

Get ready for Northwood Instrumental’s Fall Concerts! You won’t want to miss this two night event, starting at 7:00pm on both nights in the NHS Theater. Concert tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students, seniors and children. Concert/KMA vouchers may be used for this performance.

Wednesday, October 9th
Enjoy performances by: String Orchestra, Symphonic Orchestra, Wind Ensemble and Philharmonic Orchestra. See the concert program HERE.

Thursday, October 10th
Enjoy performances by: Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Concert Orchestra and Wind Symphony. See the concert program HERE.

In order to minimize disruptions, please plan to arrive by 7:00pm and stay for the duration of the concert. Thank you!

CONCERT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
We are in need for a few volunteers to sell and take tickets, exchange vouchers, hand out programs, and direct people to their seats at both concerts this week. Please sign up HERE if you are able to help. It would be best to volunteer for a performance in which your student is NOT performing, but if you do, admission will be complimentary and we will ensure that you do not miss your student’s performance.

CONSIDER MAKING A DONATION TO KMA
Your generous gift helps to Keep Music Alive at NHS! Your donation helps to sustain our instrumental music program at its current level by providing critical funding in areas such as clinics and instruction, instrument repair and purchase, sheet music and more. And it’s not too late to receive vouchers for this week’s concerts! We offer “Thank You” incentives for various levels of giving. TIMB vouchers are complimentary concert tickets which have a box office value of $10 each. These vouchers can be used for any of the paid-admission instrumental concerts, excluding galas.

The Timberwolves Instrumental Music Boosters would like to invite you to place an advertisement in our concert programs for the 2024-2025 NHS Instrumental Music Season.
